Niki’s classes on floral arranging at the Arboretum are perennially popular and sell-out quickly. She’s coming back with buckets of freshly-picked Flourish flowers for a small-group, in-person workshop on "Arranging the Petite Posy Bouquet." The Petite Posy might be small in size, but it presents a big, creative easy-to-build-on opportunity for learning the classic hand-tied design method, then using it to craft larger hand-held bouquets and floral arrangements for vases. The workshop will be held onsite at the Arboretum, a blooming and beautiful way to celebrate learning in place at our new Adult Education Outdoor Classroom. Two separate workshops are scheduled, one beginning at 10 a.m. and the other at 1 p.m. The class registration fee covers instruction and all materials, including gorgeous Flourish blossoms. Participants should bring their own floral clippers and gloves (optional).

Niki Irving is the flower farmer and florist of Flourish Flower Farm, flower farm nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains. She is the author of Growing Flowers: Everything You Need to Know About Planting, Tending, Harvesting and Arranging Beautiful Blooms, just released by Mango Press in May of 2021. Niki grows over 300 varieties of cut flowers and foliage and creates seasonally inspired designs for weddings and special events. Niki loves growing, nurturing and creating beauty and believes that flowers make the world a more beautiful, joyful place. She is an active member of the Association of Specialty Cut Flower Growers and Slow Flowers and has been featured in numerous national publications. She sells her flowers wholesale locally and nationally, plus hosts floral design and flower farming workshops on her farm and teaches for Adult Education Programs at The North Carolina Arboretum. Niki tends Flourish Flower Farm alongside her husband William and their animals.
