Spring is here and the natural world is waking from its winter rest! Take a ramble with Naturalist Scott Dean to see what's stirring with the wildflowers, trees and critters. We'll discuss what's happening now and how that relates to changes that will occur as the season and year progresses.

*This class will meet in-person at an off-site location. Participants must adhere to all safety guidelines in the reminder email sent prior to class. Please add to your contacts so our emails do not end up in your spam folder. Masks should be worn at all times out of consideration for all class participants. We ask that participants try to keep a distance of at least 6' between others as much as possible.

Scott Dean was born and raised in the mountains of southern Appalachia, specifically the coalfields of West Virginia and southwestern Virginia. He developed the original Ecology, Botany, and Zoology curricula for the Blue Ridge Naturalist Program, and has been both a classroom and field instructor with the program since its inception.  He has led walks for UNC Asheville and the Cullowhee Native Plants Conference, been a featured speaker at the Great Smoky Mountain National Park Wildflower program, and spoken at various social and civic events in the Asheville area over the last twenty years.
