Finding Beauty in the Ephemeral: Making Nature-Inspired Mandalas

ONSITE*  Wednesday, June 9; 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Instructor: Ameena Batada

$35 Member | $45 Non-member

Experience spring's renewing energy at the arboretum by contemplating nature, the season, and mandala-making with found natural items. On the day of class we will meet together initially then set off separately on contemplative walks to gather inspiration and some (found, not picked) items for making our own mandalas. We'll take time to reflect on and discuss the experience before closing and returning collected items to nature.

All materials are provided. Registrants will be sent an email with instructions for preparing for class, a pre-recorded video overview, and the meeting location onsite at the Arboretum.

*Participants must adhere to all safety guidelines in the reminder email sent prior to class. Please add adulteducation@ncarboretum.org to your contacts to ensure our emails do not end up in your spam folder.

Ameena Batada is deeply inspired by nature and the arts traditions of various communities in her parents’ homeland of India. She creates mandalas and illustrations, and is fascinated by connections across art, nature, and health. Ameena is a faculty member at UNC Asheville, where she facilitates courses on community health, health communication, and the art and science of meditation, among others.
