Follow along in this on-demand video anytime to take a break and focus on nature and love in this season. Begin with a brief online introduction to mandalas, practice a loving kindness meditation, and have a nature experience from your home, or in your neighborhood, the Arboretum, or elsewhere. Then settle in to design your own mandala inspired by nature and loving kindness. This video will provide both inspirational and technical guidance to create a mandala design that will offer wishes of health, happiness, and peace. Keep your mandala close or gift it to someone to share the love!

Needed Supplies: printed mandala template, plain white paper, tape or paperclips, pencil, fine black marker

Optional Supplies: coloring pencils or markers, colored paper, magazine or junk mail, scissors, glue, eraser

Ameena Batada is deeply inspired by nature and the  arts traditions of various communities in her parents’ homeland of India. She creates mandalas and illustrations, and is fascinated by connections across art, nature, and health. Ameena is a faculty member at UNC Asheville, where she facilitates courses on community health, health communication, and the art and science of meditation, among others.
