Blue Ridge Eco-Gardener Pollinator Credit


This class will focus on the conservation of the charismatic monarch butterfly and other imperiled pollinators from a small backyard garden perspective and include information on how to attract pollinators to home gardens. Topics include current conservation initiatives, the best type of milkweed, the importance of citizen science involvement and pollinator foraging and host plant locating theories.


Adam Baker is completing his doctorate at the University of Kentucky, working in the landscape entomology lab under the direction of Dr. Daniel A. Potter. Baker studies pollinator ecology and conservation in the urban landscape. His work focuses on conservation of the iconic monarch butterfly from a small garden perspective.
