In this introductory class, Dr. Rachel Muir will focus on science literacy and how to understand the terms used in policy making and protecting biodiversity.

Rachel Muir is a scientist emeritus for the U.S Geological Survey.  An ecologist by training, Rachel's career included conducting research, directing science policy and developing conservation strategies regarding water resources, energy development, climate science and support of the Endangered Species Act. She is a volunteer for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service assisting with conservation efforts for aquatic species in western North Carolina.
