Naturalist Round Table: An Overview of the Blue Ridge Naturalist Program

Thursday, September 10; 3 to 4 p.m.

Free | Suggested donation $15

Start a quest to deepen your knowledge of one of the most diverse ecosystems in the world. Join a community of adult learners who are dedicated to understanding the natural sciences, ecology and culture of the Southern Appalachian region through the Blue Ridge Naturalist (BRN) Certificate of Merit program. Learn about this unique program in a round table discussion with Arboretum staff, faculty and current certificate students. Core courses include ecology, botany, geology and plant identification with electives offered on animals, lichens, insects and more. All students complete a final project prior to graduation. Projects often take the form of service learning, empowering students to tackle needs in their own communities. Find out more about how the Arboretum can help you understand your place in the natural world and what you can do to preserve, protect and care for our common home.

This hour-long round table discussion will give you a closer look at the BRN program, featuring program instructors, staff, and current students to provide insight and answer questions.

Instructions for joining via Zoom will be included in your confirmation email following registration.
