Pick up tips from the pros on planning and planting. Arboretum staff lead a two-part rundown of what it takes to produce the Seasonal Landscape Exhibits three times a year. Session one focuses on design and planning, while session two focuses on planting research, timing and record keeping, and includes a rare behind-the-scenes look at the Production Greenhouse.

June Jolley has served as the greenhouse production manager at the Arboretum since 1996, where she is responsible for producing plants for seasonal landscapes, interior plant displays, and sustainable landscapes. She also manages and propagates plants for the Arboretum's plant sales. A graduate of the horticulture technology program at Haywood Community College, she organizes the annual Integrated Pest Management (IPM) Symposium for professionals in the green industry and teaches herbaceous plant propagation classes for the Arboretum. Jolley is a member of AmericaHort, as well as the Association of Education and Research Greenhouse Curators.  When not caring for her own house plants, she enjoys visiting public gardens and plant trade shows.

Clara Curtis is the senior director for mission delivery at The North Carolina Arboretum. She holds a bachelor’s degree in horticultural science from N.C. State University. Her designs for the Arboretum’s Quilt Garden, container gardens and seasonal and permanent landscapes are featured for the 25th season and have been featured on UNC-TV and with the Emmy® Award winning Show, “In the Garden with Bryce Lane”, Our State magazine and by the Associated Press. Curtis received the Award of Merit from the American Public Gardens Association in 2018 for her career achievements.
