Sketching and Lettering for Landscape Planning

Come and learn how to use a sketchbook as a tool for documentation, contemplation and inspiration.  In this class you will learn how to letter like a landscape architect, basic graphic skills and how to think differently through drawing. We will then put these skills to work creating some dynamic sketchbook pages together to start you on your journey of using a sketchbook in your daily life. No drawing skills required, come and I will teach you.

Drake Fowler is the Arboretum’s deputy executive director. He is a licensed landscape architect in North Carolina and has managed the offices for one of the country’s top design firms. As a landscape architect, Fowler has worked in city planning, site master planning, complete street design, wayfinding, and low impact design. His projects have won national awards from the American Society of Landscape Architects and are certified platinum for leadership in energy and environmental design.
