By this time of year, spring birds have arrived and are starting to build nests and breed. This season is the best time of year to learn bird songs and see birds in their prime breeding plumage. We will spend some time in the classroom, but most of the class will be spent outside listening to spring birdsongs.
Simon Thompson is an international birding expert originally from Suffolk, England, who now calls Western North Carolina home. He spent six months in China studying crane and birds of prey migration as a member of the British China Crane Watch expedition.
