Sumi-e is a beautiful style of painting using only fundamental brush strokes of simple lines and dots to capture the shifting images of our perceptual world. Beginning and experienced students will work at their own level in this centuries-old tradition. The new student supply fee is approximately $45 to be paid the first class; returning students may purchase a sumi-e paper pad from the teacher at any time.
Diana Christopherson studied the Japanese brush painting techniques of sumi-e for over 25 years under the tutelage of Reiko Ito Shellum, a Japanese master teacher of the Nanga School. Christopherson taught at Northern Dakota County TriDistrict Community Education from 2008 to 2012.
