Can photography radically change your relationship with the natural world? Award-winning documentary photographer Susan Patrice believes it can. On Friday, February 14, from 4 to 6:30 p.m., Susan Patrice will be sharing images and stories from her most recent project, The Enveloping Landscape, which features stunning, round, black and white photographs that offer a unique view of the beautiful and sometimes threatened forests of the Southern Appalachian region. Nature enthusiasts and photographers of all levels are invited to attend this free artist talk to learn more about the power of everyday photography to animate love, encourage meaningful dialogue, and most importantly, inspire an increased commitment to caring for our common home. Susan Patrice will also be sharing information about how you can participate in her newly launched citizen-photography project Photo Terra, which pairs local photographers with regional non-profit and conservation organizations.

Susan Patrice is a documentary photographer, community artist, and founder of Makers Circle, a nonprofit organization that designs community-based arts projects dedicated to cultural transformation and healing. Her photography and public installations focus primarily on the Southern Landscape and its people and features intimate images that touch deeply into the questions of place, gender, and belonging.
