Birds have color, song and movement and are amongst the most visible inhabitants of our world. In this class we will explore the beauty of the birds around us. Why are birds so popular? Why do we go out of our way to find rare birds? Why do we try and learn their songs?  Spend the morning learning about some of the world’s most beautiful birds and listening to some of their most outstanding and amazing songs.

Simon Thompson is an international birding expert originally from Suffolk, England, who now calls Western North Carolina home. He spent six months in China studying crane and birds of prey migration as a member of the British China Crane Watch expedition. Thompson is the director of the Ventures Nature Travel program in Tryon, N.C. birdventures.com
