This weekend retreat is an immersion into mind-body practice to release tension and stress, clear the mind, and calm the nervous system. Expect gentle, therapeutic stretching and breath-based movement, guided progressive relaxations, seated meditation on chair or cushion, and contemplative time for journaling and reflection both indoors and outdoors. Excerpts from the speeches of Martin Luther King, Jr. inspire us to reflect on the power of practicing care for ourselves as a skillful means to deepen our care toward others and the world.

Mats and props will be provided. Participants should wear comfortable clothing to class. 

Jenne Sluder is a qualified mental health professional certified through the International Association of Yoga Therapists as a trauma-sensitive therapeutic yoga instructor. She holds a master’s in transpersonal psychology: ecopsychology from Naropa University and specializes in mind-body approaches to improving mental and physical health. An Asheville native, Sluder works with individuals and with groups engaging somatic (body-based), contemplative (mindfulness-based), ecological (nature-based), and compassion-based practices.
