This class is designed for beginning photographers who are interested in developing basic skills in photography using a digital camera. No experience is necessary. The focus of the class will be in two broad areas: technical skills and creative development. Mixing classroom instruction and field exercises in the Arboretum gardens, students will learn about camera controls and basic photo composition. Students will need to bring their own digital cameras, preferably with interchangeable lenses, along with the instruction manual and accessories, including lens, batteries and memory cards. A tripod is helpful and recommended but not required.
Robert Priddy graduated from the Rocky Mountain School of Photography and studied nature photography with world-renowned photographers Galen Rowell, George Wuerthner, Will Clay, and Stan Osolinski. The focus of his work is nature photography in North Carolina and the Appalachian Mountains.
