Enter the world of handmade paper in this two-day class focused on creating beautiful papers that will become the sides for a lamp. The class offers a brief history of papermaking as students practice the motion of dipping the mold and deckle into the pulp and pressing it onto blankets. Students will learn how to add decorative elements such as leaves, flowers and seeds to their paper. Students will also build the wood structure support of the lamp and learn simple electrical wiring. Lighting the lamps will be the finale of the class. Supplies are included. Students may bring pressed flowers, leaves and other flat found items for decoration.
