Chi gung tai chi is a simple way to gain coordination, improve balance and increase range of motion. It literally translates to moving or working the body’s energy for better health. An added health benefit to the class each week is the opportunity to practice outside in the Arboretum gardens. The form of tai chi taught is from a 72nd generation Taoist Master, and instruction is tailored for new and returning students. There will be three sessions, each four weeks long. Students should wear comfortable clothing for being outside as weather permits.

Tony Smith has been studying Shaolin Kung Fu since 1976 and began training in tai chi under various teachers in 1984. He was certified to teach two of the three styles of Ni family tai chi in 1994 and has been an instructor, competitor and judge in kung fu and tai chi for many years.

Two additional four-week sessions are offered in Spring/Summer:

Session II: Saturdays, April 7, 21, 28, May 5;
9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Session III: Saturdays, May 12, 19, 26, June 2;
