This class is designed for advanced beginner to intermediate photographers who are interested in developing skills in close-up and macro photography using the 35mm SLR digital camera. The sessions consist of a mix of classroom instruction and field exercises at the Arboretum. Classroom instruction includes lecture on equipment requirements, light and managing backgrounds, and working with flowers and insects. Students should have a good working knowledge of their cameras. A digital SLR camera with the instruction manual and accessories (lens, batteries, memory cards) and a quality tripod are recommended. Those who plan to purchase equipment to support close-up photography should wait to purchase until after the first class.
Robert Priddy graduated from the Rocky Mountain School of Photography and studied nature photography with world-renowned photographers Galen Rowell, George Wuerthner, Will Clay, and Stan Osolinski. The focus of his work is nature photography in North Carolina and the Appalachian
Mountains.
