When thinking of spring flowers, our attention is often turned toward the numerous herbaceous plants on the forest floor. However many species of mountain trees are also blooming. In this class, students will learn about identifying trees by their flowers, buds and bark, investigate tree pollination strategies and enjoy a walk to practice identification skills.

Geoffrey Steen is a tree enthusiast and an agro-forester. He got his start in the high deserts of California on a vegetable and peach operation and graduated from Warren Wilson College with a bachelor of science in forestry and agriculture. Steen has presented programs on agro-forestry nationally and internationally. He is the proprietor of Raven Ridge Farmscapes.
